Statement of Faith

Our church has a statement of faith that goes back many years. While some of the language is “classic” the statement accurately expresses our church’s beliefs. Please contact us if you have any questions about what this statement means or what our church believes.

SCRIPTURES: We believe that the Scriptures of the Old and New Testament are verbally inspired of God, and are our only infallible rule of faith and practice.

THE GODHEAD: We believe that the Godhead eternally exists in three persons – the Father, the Son, and the Holy Spirit – and that these three are one God and have precisely the same nature, attributes, and perfections, and are worthy of precisely the same homage, confidence and obeisance.

THE SAVIOR: We believe that the Lord Jesus Christ is God manifest in the flesh. We hold to His virgin birth, sinless life, vicarious death, bodily resurrection, ascension into heaven, present high priestly ministry, translation of the church, and personal, pre-millennial return to establish an earthly kingdom.

THE HOLY SPIRIT: We believe that the Holy Spirit is the third person of the Trinity who convicts men of their unbelief and effects the full salvation of the believer.

MAN: We believe that through the fall of man in Adam all men are totally depraved and stand in need of regeneration.

SALVATION FOR SINNERS: We believe that salvation sufficient for all was provided through Jesus Christ by His substitutionary and sacrificial death on the cross and that salvation is freely given to all who by faith accept Christ as personal Lord and Savior.

ETERNAL LIFE: We believe that eternal life is the sovereign work of God’s grace implanted in the sinner when he believes and receives Christ.

TWO DESTINIES: We believe that the destiny of each person is unalterable after he leaves his body at the time of physical death. The destiny of all believers is to be at home with the Lord. The destiny of all unbelievers is separation from the presence of the Lord.

THE CHURCH: We believe that the Church is the Body of Christ. All persons whom the Holy Spirit has enabled to confess that Jesus Christ is Lord are members of this body. A local church is an assembly of persons who so confess Christ and who join together for worship, service and the mutual encouragement of their faith.

TWO ORDINANCES: We believe that Baptism of believers by immersion is open confession of Jesus Christ as Lord and Savior and is public identification with the church; that Communion is worship in which believers remember the Lord’s death until He comes.

ONE COMMISSION: We believe that the continuing obligation of the church is to fulfill the admonition of Jesus Christ to make disciples among all nations and to teach what He has commanded.
