Use your gifts and talents to serve God and your community
Our Serve Teams provide an opportunity for men, women, teenagers and families to participate in the mission of God at First. We want to help you use your gifts, talents and passions to serve God in and through this community. Whether it be greeting others on Sunday, helping in the nursery or serving in our homeless ministry, we want to connect you with a Serve Team that fits with how God has made you.
Our Serve Teams
Community Group volunteers help to lead a group or host one. Our groups are central to the life of our church and important for us to grow as followers of Jesus. Volunteer leaders oversee groups of about 8-15 people, develop future leaders, encourage group members, and attend regular training events.
As part of downtown Minneapolis, we want to serve our local community well. We have created intentional partnerships with organizations that will help you connect with meaningful serving opportunities. Whether it be sorting clothes, serving a meal or planning an event, we would love for you to help us serve local.
The Connections Team is dedicated to helping people feel welcomed and loved. They are some of the first people our guests and attendees will meet on a Sunday. They greet at the doors, hand out programs, and serve in other ways to help people connect here. Connections volunteers serve once per month.
Family Ministry is a joyful community of servant leaders all committed to saying YES to the next generation. We love celebrating each phase of a kid's life and helping each child and student see and discover what it means to follow Jesus. We look forward to you joining us!
Our Worship Ministry has two distinct parts that make up one team. The musicians lead the congregation in singing at our Sunday services while the audio/visual crew are backstage making it all happen, including sound, lights, and video. Our worship team is designed to include people of varying levels of experience and skill.
Our Kinship Ministry extends the love of Christ to others through relationship and presence. We focus primarily on the elder members of First who are homebound and unable to participate in many of our ongoing ministries. Volunteers help through visitation, prayer teams, correspondence or other ways.
Many behind-the-scenes projects support ministry at First. Operations volunteers help with all-church meals, on painting projects, with gardening/landscaping, at special events like funerals or weddings, by answering phones in the office, and in one-time cleaning and rehab projects. Let us know your interest and skills, and we'll find a meaningful project that will keep First ministries moving forward.
